Generated against Buena Mono v1.235 · last updated 2026-09-25

Texture healing is Monaspace's term for using the calt feature to swap narrow glyphs for variants that donate their surplus space to cramped neighbours when the two collide. The advance never changes — only the drawing's width and position inside the fixed body — so monospace integrity is preserved.

Does Buena Mono implement it?

Buena Mono does not implement texture healing. Its calt carries the coding ligatures, which need only ligature substitution, not the neighbour-aware substitution healing requires.

Texture spread

What healing would correct: how much the ink width varies between lowercase letters sharing the same 618u body, measured at the default instance.

Room to trade, per instance

Healing moves space from a glyph that has surplus to one that is cramped, so it needs both to exist. Negative headroom means the drawing already extends past its body — there is nothing left to give it.
